The Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of FameAd Industry Honors The Budweiser Clydesdales and AOL Running Man
They'll join 13 other ad favorites in Kansas City's Advertising Icon Museum. The museum will also induct the slogans "Virginia is for Lovers" and "Like a Good Neighbor."
A highlight of the annual Advertising Week observance in New York City is the naming of two industry icons and two industry slogans to the Madison Avenue Walk of Fame in Manhattan and the Advertising Icon Museum in Kansas City. The honorees for 2009 were:
After being added to the Walk of Fame in New York City, the four will head for a permanent place in the Advertising Icon Museum, which is scheduled to open in 2010. Advertising Week is normally observed in late September. The Walk of Fame was created in 2004 with the naming of five icons and five slogans. Since then it has named two icons and two slogans per year. The selections are made by public voting. AOL’s Running Man was introduced in 1996 as part of the sign-on process for the AOL service. According to Anheuser Busch, Budweiser has used Clydesdale horses in its promotions and commercials since 1933. Three Kellogg Icons NominatedThree Kellogg icons were nominated for the 2009 Walk of Fame. They were the Snap, Crackle and Pop cereal characters, the Tucan Sam and the Keebler Elves.
